From News Center (Text by Zhang Jinyezi from the International Exchange Department (School of International Education), Photo by China Education Association for International Exchange) From October 31 to November 2, 2024, the 2024 China Annual Conference & Expo for International Education (CACIE 2024) was grandly held in Beijing. Ding Zhongli, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, and President of the Western Returned Scholars Association (Overseas-educated Scholars Association of China), Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of the Ministry of Education and Minister of Education, Patrick Hetzel, Minister of Higher Education and Research of France, Bertrand Lortholary, Ambassador of France to China, and other leaders attended the annual event online and offline.

Liu Zilin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU), was invited by the organizer to deliver a speech at the event's sub-forum titled "Multi-stakeholder Engagement and Digital Empowerment: Forum on Innovative Development of Cross-Border Vocational Education". The title of his speech is "Focusing on ASEAN and Seeking Development with Marine Resources: Promoting the High-Quality 'Going Global' of China's Vocational Education".

In his speech, Liu shared LZPU's exploration experience and practices in advancing the "going global" of vocational education.  He noted a shift in the international expansion of Chinese enterprises—from a model of "going global alone" to a cooperative approach that supports the overseas expansion of the entire industrial chains led by leading enterprises and mentioned the changes in industry-education integration needs. Additionally, he detailed how LZPU has adopted various cooperative models, including school-enterprise cooperation, school-school cooperation, and government-school-enterprise cooperation, to evolve from "leveraging external resources to go global" to "building independent capacity to go global" and finally to "forming synergy to go global". During this process, LZPU has continuously deepened its cooperation with ASEAN countries and achieved substantial progress.

Addressing the challenges of running schools abroad, Liu emphasized that vocational colleges should provide more safeguards for "technology going global" and strengthen risk controls over core technologies and professional vocational education standards. Moreover, he suggested that vocational colleges should be part of "Chinese culture going global" and coordinate with the government and industry players to foster multi-stakeholder industry-education cooperation for successful international expansion.

Liu Zilin's speech received high praise and enthusiastic feedback from attendees, reflecting LZPU's commitment to deepening international cooperation in running schools and demonstrating research and thinking on the international environment, national strategies, industry needs, and the strategy of "vocational education going global".

The CACIE 2024 was sponsored by the China Education Association for International Exchange, with the theme of "Education for All, the Unknown and the Future". France served as the Country of Honor of the CACIE 2024, which would be included in the outcomes of diplomatic work at the head-of-state level. This event included plenary sessions, parallel forums, cooperative discussions, and educational exhibitions, featuring over 100 bilateral and multilateral activities. It attracted more than 5,000 participants from over 60 countries and regions worldwide, including Chinese and foreign educators, officials of foreign embassies and consulates in China, and corporate representatives.
